Single foster carer Maggie gave up her previous job to embrace fostering as her full-time career and hasn't looked back.
Now, after reaching her first year of fostering, Maggie shared with us how she has welcomed two girls who are siblings into the household and found they have all bonded well together, telling us,
'The year has gone by so fast, I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have two gorgeous girls who are amazing. The match has been perfect for us all. Of course, there have been challenges, but I have enjoyed learning how to deal with them better.'
When you are a foster carer, it can take time to adjust to a new way of life, but with the help of the Nexus Fostering agency and Maggie embracing her local foster carer support groups to make new connections, this has helped her integrate into the fostering community and learn new skills and knowledge over the past year.
The Cambridgeshire team shared some wonderful words about Maggie's first year of being a foster carer and shared with us 'congratulations to Maggie, who recently celebrated her first anniversary of fostering with Nexus Fostering. Maggie was approved in September 2023, and within 2 months, 2 young children were placed with her. It has been a joy to watch them thrive in her care. We want to thank Maggie for the care and support she gives to the children, along with her commitment and openness to increasing her knowledge and skills in fostering by attending training and valuing her supervision & clinician sessions to ensure she can provide the best support possible to the children she cares for.'
