Five years of love: Tina's fostering journey

Five years ago, Tina embarked on a life-changing journey that has transformed both her life and the lives of the young people she cares for. Reflecting on her journey, Tina shares, “Fostering has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The support from the team at Nexus has been invaluable, always offering new ideas and consistent care to ensure I have the tools I need."

Tina is a single foster carer and her dedication has not gone unnoticed. Her Supervising Social Worker has seen firsthand how Tina has helped the two young boys in her care thrive over the years. One of the boys, benefiting from a Nexus 360 plan, receives additional therapeutic support which is something Tina champions to ensure the children get the best care and feel truly settled in her home.

But Tina’s commitment doesn’t stop at just offering a stable home, she goes above and beyond wherever possible. Tina cares for an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child (UASC) and took one of her young people overseas to immerse him in his culture and helped teach him a new language, helping him connect with his roots. This is a crucial part of a young person’s development, and Tina's proactive approach to nurturing his cultural identity speaks volumes about her devotion to his well-being.

As Tina celebrates five years of fostering, it's clear that her journey is not just about caring for others but it's about helping children grow into the best versions of themselves, with love, support, and dedication every step of the way.
