About us

We look forward to a future where our fostered children and young people have become adults who can be proud of who they are, have forged lives for themselves that they value and have built families of their own which bring them comfort and pride and can attribute those achievements to their experience of Nexus Fostering.

Nexus Home And About Us Page

Nexus Fostering has been making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people in care since 2002. Our ethos is centred around unrivalled support for our carers, extensive training and fostering excellence.

Our History

Nexus Fostering was established in London in 2002 by a group of colleagues and carers who felt it was possible to offer a professional and personal service to foster carers, children, young people and local authorities.

Our management and social work teams have extensive experience in children’s social work and family placements, within both the statutory and independent sectors. We work in close partnership with local authorities to identify and meet the needs of their children and provide safe and secure homes for young people.

Our drive is to support the lives of children and young people looked-after and ensure it is as great today as it was when we first evolved.

Our Values

Strive for fostering excellence - At Nexus Fostering, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of fostering. We continuously work to improve our practices, ensuring that every child and young person in our care receives the best possible support. This commitment to excellence is reflected in our rigorous training programs, our comprehensive support systems, and our adherence to best practices in the fostering sector.

Giving carers exceptional support - Our foster carers and their children & young people are at the heart of what we do. To ensure they can provide the best care, we offer them exceptional support, including access to 24/7 assistance, regular training opportunities, and a strong network of fellow carers. This robust support system helps our carers feel confident and well-equipped to handle the challenges of fostering.

Enabling life-changing differences for vulnerable young people coming into care - Our ultimate goal is to make a profound, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people who come into our care. By providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment, we aim to help these young individuals heal, grow, and thrive, giving them the tools and confidence to build a brighter future.

Local team always on hand

Since we were established in 2002, we have grown to cover a large area across England. All our offices are fully staffed with qualified professionals to provide local support to carers, including regular supervision with social workers, training sessions, and foster carer support groups. This ensures that someone is always nearby and ready to assist our carers whenever needed.

Our Ofsted accreditations

Since 2011, we've been consecutively rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, with the most recent rating in 2022. You can read our latest report here

A rating of Outstanding from Ofsted means that Nexus Fostering provides the highest quality care for the children under their supervision.

An inspector said:

"This fostering agency offers an outstanding service to children in foster care placements. Children's experiences and progress are excellent. The service negotiates and maintains very successful and stable foster placements. The service’s matching processes are effective. Children, including several sibling groups, have their welfare safeguarded and promoted. Unplanned endings do not happen often. As a result, children thrive in safe, stable homes, enjoying secure relationships that are nurturing and positive."

The Future

Nexus Fostering has developed its service for foster carers, children, and young people based on a personal and reliable approach, with strong, accessible relationships with our staff and managers. To maintain this accessibility as we grow, we divided our agency into two in December 2024: Nexus Fostering Midlands & West and the original Nexus Fostering, each with four teams. Both agencies are equally staffed and resourced, offering the same services and support. The key benefits remain the same for both:

  • Local relationships with people you know and who know you

  • Managers who are easy to contact

  • Feeling appreciated as individuals and unique families

  • The safety of belonging to a respected organisation that has the services and networks to work well on your behalf

Nexus Fostering Midlands & West will be inspected by Ofsted  in 2025.

A message from Kelly, Director...

''I’ve been here since the beginning back in 2002, and it’s been a real pleasure being part of this journey.  Wow, how time flies. Our core values and ethos has stayed the same throughout the years, and we remain just as passionate about offering a professional and personal service to foster cares, children, young people, and local authorities, as we were on day one.

Our team have achieved Ofsted outstanding consistently since 2011, and we’re so grateful to have been given the opportunity to support so many children and young people.  Over the years we’ve helped over 3000 children and young people across England, something the team and I are immensely proud of.

When someone asks me what makes Nexus Fostering unique… that’s easy, it’s our people and our locally based and locally focussed teams who work with passion, professionalism, and empathy to provide best-in-class support to carers, children, and each other. We really are a fostering family like no other. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together in the next 20 years.''

Don't just take our word for it....

We can't praise Nexus Fostering enough. The support, training, advice, and even just a shoulder to cry on are outstanding. We have a fantastic team of friendly carers who support each other. The staff are available 24/7, no matter how big or small your query. It’s never too much for them. We're like one big family and would recommend this agency to anyone—you won’t find better.
