Nexus Fostering in Framingham Earl Norwich donates funds to S&L Safe Cut Kits to help support individuals affected by self-harm. Providing this donation allows individuals who are struggling with self-harm to receive a safe cut kit from Sally, who set up this cause. The cause is close to the fostering agency's heart as over the years, they have helped many young people in foster care going through emotional traumas that can often lead to self-harming.
Sally, who runs S&L Safe Cut Kits, was thrilled with the donation and was kind enough to write a lovely thank you letter to the Norwich team.
'Dear Nexus Fostering,
I was absolutely shocked and delighted to receive an email from yourselves, wanting to donate a substantial sum of money to our Gift a Kit Scheme. At S&L Safe Cut Kits® we put together safety Kits specifically designed to support individuals who are affected by self harm.
In the UK, it is thought, 1 in 15 young people self harm and the
numbers continue to rise year on year. It is also a growing problem with men in their mid thirties.
Therefore, it is so important these individuals have access to a kit, that focuses on prevention and safety, and is dedicated to their needs.
S&L Safe Cut Kits® is a non-profit company and any money we make on sales get put straight back into the business. So unfortunately, we are unable to give kits away for free. This is where our Gift a Kit Scheme comes into its own.
With the generosity of others, donating money to the scheme, we are able to send out kits completely free of charge to individuals who are facing financial hardship, and would otherwise not be able to access a much needed kit.
The money donated from Nexus Fostering will allow us to send THIRTEEN kits out to individuals in need.
This makes such a difference to the recipient. The Gift a Kit Scheme has been running for about 4 months and at least 25 kits have gone out to homeless individuals, young people in the care system and families who just don’t have the spare funds to make a purchase.
We are always so grateful to anyone who donates to the scheme but this donation from
yourselves at Nexus Fostering has made a massive difference and we are so so thankful for your kindness and generosity.'
Area Manager Emma shared why the cause was chosen and the importance of supporting people who are in need. 'I was inspired when I read online what 'safer cuts' and Sally offer to those in need and felt they would be the perfect recipient for our Christmas donation. Sally has been creative about designing a kit that can support those in need, and her website offers a wealth of information for anyone concerned about someone they love or care for in relation to their emotional wellbeing.'
