We’re always looking for more people to join our fostering family, and what better way to hear what fostering is like, and why you should consider it, than to hear from real foster carers!
One foster carer describes their highlight as “watching the young people we’ve cared for develop into strong, confident, independent young women who are thriving in the community."
Looking at both children now, compared with when they came...both children have said we make them feel safe and this is very rewarding
Other foster carers share their thoughts on the training offered by Nexus Fostering and how it has “increased our capacity to understand what these children are going through and what they might need.”
Danny, a foster carer from London, said “These children are part of your family as soon as they come over your threshold; you’re there for them. Think how you would like your own children to be treated if it was the other way around.”
Children and young people come into care for a wide variety of reasons, and from many different backgrounds. To match these needs, Nexus Fostering are looking for people from a variety of backgrounds, and with their own experiences, to enquire with them.
Almost anyone can become a foster carer, all you need is a spare bedroom and an interest in helping young people.
You can also check out our other stories from foster carers and staff on our news and blog page.
